To Be Admired and Desired

This was written by my grandmother.

Many people are victims of self-pity. To them, the world seems hard and unsympathetic. Much misery and suffering have been their fate.

Lone and loveless; nobody loves them.
The days come and go; they all seem alike.
Enthusiasm is absent; no thrills to stir the senses.
Many people suffer from this self martyrdom, but they themselves are usually to blame.

If you radiate good cheer wherever you go, if you wear a winning smile, an appropriate return can be expected.

Ella Wheller Wilcox, the renowned poetes, told us:
"Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep and you weep alone."
And there is a world of truth in her viewpoint.
Disease is credited with being very contagious; but a winning smile is a far more so.

And a hearty laugh- why it cannot be resisted. It is so infectious your reaction is automatic.

And when that deadly thought appears that you are alone and loveless, everything is dark and gloomy.

To secure the appreciation from others, make yourself attractive but still acquiring an alluring personality.

Some people unconsciously inherit personal charm. But character and personality can be developed only through cultural training.

One should make every possible effort to develop an attractive physical appearance; and no matter how drab or uninteresting one may appear, this is usually possible.

Then, too, it is desirable to seek the opportunities that are necessary to fulfill one's mission in line, to develop characteristics that make one desirable.

Then the love you crave should ultimately appear. But happiness must be earned. Prepare yourself to meet the responsibilities life brings.

Acquire the vivid aliveness that makes one an outstanding figure. Then life should open up resplendent possibilities. LOVE that should satisfy the yearning of the most romantic soul be ultimately yours.

But it will appear without appropriate effort in your heart.
